FARROW & BALL REVEALS
TOP INTERIOR TRENDS FOR 2023-24
As Predicted by Joa Studholme, Farrow & Ball Colour Curator

Decorating over the next year is going to be all about balance. As we continue to embrace our new ways of living, creating personal interiors has never been more important. This can look like a myriad of different styles, but it’s paramount that our homes are sustainable, authentic and carefully crafted. Rich clay tones continue to nurture us in times of uncertainty, while for those embracing the opportunity to try something new, combining different sheens and wallpaper is ideal for celebrating individuality.
Clay Tones
The warm tones of Jitney and Stirabout create an earthy, reassuring atmosphere. When used together, they create a harmonious space that’s easy on the eyes. The subtle balance of Jitney on the walls and lighter Stirabout on the panels, ceiling and trim, result in a beguiling room with an ethereal quality - a wonderful, warm scheme for those who prefer neutral spaces.
Many of us are drawn to clay tones, however we also want to make our homes feel as bright and spacious as possible. Using a lighter tone like Oxford Stone on the walls and the much stronger Tanner’s Brown on the trim instantly makes the walls feel lighter and the room feel bigger.

Full Gloss to Dead Flat
Balancing ultra-matte Dead Flat with Full Gloss is a gorgeous, albeit unexpected, way to give spaces a modern, polished feel. India Yellow in Full Gloss on the upper of this paneled wall and in Dead Flat below, accentuates the architectural detail without it overwhelming the colour scheme. Using a combination of finishes like this bounces light around and makes spaces feel more interesting, transforming the ordinary into extraordinary.
The use of Full Gloss on cabinetry has really come to the fore, being used for statement schemes to highlight accent pieces. This island painted in Full Gloss is practical as well as glamorous. The high-shine finish creates a beautiful but subtle contrast to the walls, which are also painted in De Nimes but using Dead Flat. The result is truly unique.

Wallpaper
Wallpaper is one of the most transformative elements in our arsenal. For a special touch of originality, try two colourways of the same pattern in the same space. Taking wallpaper up and over the ceiling also makes a room feel taller, for a statement that’s practical and packs a punch. Wallpaper always brings unexpected delight to every decorating project.

About Joa Studholme
Colour Curator Joa Studholme has worked with Farrow & Ball for over 25 years and has become a key part of the brand’s story: she helped launch the first Showroom, became the first Colour Consultant and has created many of the colours.
As well as creating new colours, Joa’s current role focuses on showing people the power of paint to transform a space, something she understood from a very young age: as a child she painted the inside of her bedroom cupboards yellow, so it looked like the sun was shining out of them. To this day, adding an accent colour to a recess is one of her top tips. She shares her passion for colour through colour consultancy, her Colour in the Home talks and her books How to Decorate, How to Redecorate and Recipes for Decorating.
Joa splits her time between London and Somerset and, as to be expected, both spaces are brimming with Farrow & Ball colour. In fact, her love for colour means she is constantly redecorating.
Although choosing her favourite Farrow & Ball colour is something Joa likens to choosing her favorite child, she is a firm fan of Bamboozle for its fiery spirit and the way it makes rooms glow.
